I have always had a desire to create from raw materials. Given free rein to explore my creativity is something I will always be grateful to my parents for. I’m sure there were endless hours spent cleaning up after my creative endeavors.

In 2015 I took my very first jewelry making class. A simple yet amazing introduction into the world of soldering and simple tube setting. After that class came another more advanced version. To finally have the skills and freedom to create original pieces from raw materials was amazing. I’ve continued learning new skills on my own through online tutorials and great resource books. Learning a new setting or technique and finally nailing it is an amazing feeling.

Ebony + Sparrow was originally created as a wood jewelry line. After taking the silver smiting classes I decided to combine the two. Ebony + Sparrow is really a combination of two different jewelry lines. One line consisting of modern and simple jewelry with the focus on everyday wear.

The second line is inspired by Canadian artist Emily Carr’s paintings and my beautiful British Columbia surroundings. I knew I wanted to create a new and unique jewelry line depicting nature scenes from my beautiful province. As well as combining my love for wood working. After playing around with a few designs my cut out scenes were created. All the little scenes are hand cut using a jewelers saw. No two pieces are the same and each is one of a kind.

Each jewelry line is different yet similar in that I want each piece to be versatile, unique, and well made. Our Argentium silver and sterling silver 14k solid gold and 14k solid rose gold all come from recycled sources in north America. Our gold filled products also are manufactured in north America. All metals are nickel, cadmium, and lead free. The rosewood and ebony wood come from cut offs used in guitar making. Gemstones are ethically sourced when ever possible and we avoid the use of conflict stones. Each jewelry piece is meticulously made and inspected. I don't like jewelry that turns skin green or gemstones that fall out, so all my designs are made with care and quality. I want your piece to last for years.
